It’s Mooooonday, Hearties! Come on! Up and at ‘em. Let’s start the week! And boy, do I have a treat for you today. I have not laughed THIS hard in a spotlight interview in…EVER! In fact, 75% of the time was this person instructing me, “Breathe!” and me yelling back, “Trying!” Today, you get to meet one of my old college roommates, or as we used to say “my dear roommeet”, Marilyn Ard. Yeah, we were weird. We even kept a roll of receipt paper by our apartment phone so we could record all the ridiculous things we said at 2:00 in the morning after late-night study sessions. Problem is, lots of that stuff was blurted out at dinner, and at 1:00 in the afternoon, and…okay, pretty much any time of day. My favorite Marilyn quote, at least one you all have a prayer of understanding, (LOTS of inside jokes!) was “When I was in Germany, I ate lots of Chinese food; you know, because I liked to immerse myself in the culture.” (Silence with crickets chirping…) Okay, moving on! We got to do the interview on the phone, so I got to hear all her first reactions. Those are the funniest! Please welcome, and enjoy meeting, Marilyn Ard!

1. Where are you from? If you’re living elsewhere, where are you living now?
• I’m from Snoqualmie, WA. I now live in Salt Lake City, Utah.

2. Tell us about your family.
• I grew up the middle of 3 kids. That explains a lot, actually. 😀 I’m divorced, but I stay plenty busy! I have 4 very energetic kids…VERY energetic…ranging from Kindergarten to 7th grade.

3. What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? What are you studying/did you study in school?
• I have a bachelors in chemistry education, and a masters in physics. As a result, I’m a high school science teacher; I teach… chemistry and physics, the BEST sciences! I also teach elective classes of myth busters and forensics. As for hobbies, I enjoy hiking, baking desserts, camping with my kids, and sometimes I color pictures. 😀

4. How did you find/discover WCTH?
• Uh…from you. I never would have thought to look for it otherwise. It was all you, man! Look what you’ve done to me! (I seriously need to talk to Brian Bird about getting commission!)

5. What is your favorite episode? Season?
• How could you make me choose??? I really liked when Lee proposed to Rosemary, and when they got married. She was giving up all her fancy stuff for a simple wedding. Season? I don’t know! I binge watch! I don’t know the difference!

6. Who is your favorite character? Star of the show?
• Ah!!! Why do you make me pick such things?! Depends on the day…Lee – that kid’s a saint! I like Abigail too.

7. Why are you a Heartie? Why do you love the show?
• WHY??? You ask hard questions! It gives such wonderful glimpses of romance. It’s interesting and clean, but not too cheesy. I didn’t feel like I was going to stab my eyes out with all the cheesiness. 😀 Then I fell in love with the characters…well, not really, because that’s kind of creepy; but I loved the storyline. 😀

8. Anything else you enjoy, or anything you’d like to add?
• Ooh! I could have fun with this! Um…in Season 4, how DARE they make me have positive feelings for Gowen? (I’ll take this opportunity to share that when I told her lots of fans were pushing for Gowen and Abigail to be together, she responded, “Ew!”)
• I’m trying to think…it’s a foreign concept, so give me a second. 😀 You told me about that interview when they asked the cast what modern convenience they couldn’t live without if they lived in Hope Valley. I’m in the same boat as Daniel Lissing, I would miss toilet paper!
• WCTH is the only way I currently get romance in my life since I’m divorced. We all want a little Jack Thornton in our lives.

Thanks, Momma! That was our apartment nickname for her, since she liked to mother everyone, in a GOOD way! Well, are YOUR sides hurting? No? I guess you had to be there. 😉 See all of you on Wednesday! This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom!

Good Monday afternoon/evening, Hearties, (depending on when you read this). Did everyone have a good weekend? Hope so, because readers are always more vibrant when they’re happy. 😉 Did you watch Wedding of Dreams on Saturday? I confess, I didn’t. I took my kids out for swimming and pizza instead. But I watched it today, and that review will be coming at ya this #WonderWednesday. And speaking of Saturday, I found out it was Carter Evancic’s (Cody) birthday. So next year, we’ll have a Carter Evancic Week too. Man! September and October are a hive of activity when it comes to WCTH birthdays. Phew!

But we’re focusing on the here and now, and NOW is #MeetYouMonday. Today you all get to meet someone I am nuts about. Her name is Amy Trent, and she’s one of my dearest friends. And…she and I actually live in the SAME TOWN. GASP! But no, it’s true, we get our kids together all the time. It’s been a while since I interviewed someone I know…who isn’t family. 😀 The last one was Shannon for Back to School Week. But I am going to be quiet now because this lady needs no help speaking for herself. The floor is yours, Amy!

1. Where are you from? If you’re living elsewhere, where are you living now?
• I’m from El Monte, California. I lived there until I was 14, then we moved to North Carolina for a year. Then I moved to Utah, and I was there until I moved here to Pflugerville, TX.

2. Tell us about your family.
• My husband is Mark, he’s best known for ridiculous puns. I also have 2 girls. The 3-year-old is known for her prodigious vocabulary, and then there’s my 3-month-old. She is best known for spitting up, but most celebrated for recently sleeping through the night!

3. What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? What are you studying/did you study in school?
• Before we moved to Texas, I was an elementary school teacher. I really like teaching; sometimes I forget how much I miss it. But now I do a different type of teaching. I teach preschool to my daughter and a group of her friends. Other than that, I currently work in unpaid slave labor, but it IS by choice, and my young taskmasters are usually pretty generous. I love reading! And if I had unlimited amounts of money, I would take a woodworking class.

4. How did you find/discover WCTH?
• I blame Kami. I wouldn’t have found it without her. She got really excited one day, and told me about this new show she was watching, and said I had to see it. I told her I didn’t have Netflix or Hallmark Channel, and she invited me on the spot to watch it at her house. I’d come over once a week (or more!) and we’d watch while our kids ran amuck. 😉 It was our play date.

5. What is your favorite episode? Season?
• Episode is S1 E8: Perils of the Soloist when Jack painted them on the Founder’s Day mural. I think we get a better picture of Jack, seeing him do something sweet yet sneaky. It’s a good peek into his character.

6. Who is your favorite character? Star of the show?
• My favorite star is Erin Krakow. My favorite characters are Abigail and Elizabeth. Abigail is so strong, but she’s strong without being brutal. She is still kind, charitable, and forgiving. I think people lose sight of the fact that you can be both, and her character does that really well. I love Elizabeth because she’s a school teacher. I find it amusing to watch her teach, as well as the schoolhouse antics; and OF COURSE all the other children in the classroom will sit quietly while the teacher handles a troubling situation. 😀

7. Why are you a Heartie? Why do you love the show?
• Because it’s GOOD! When you get done watching, you feel like there’s hope for humanity. I look at “reality TV” that’s so popular today, and I think: “If those are the kind of friends you hang around with, YOU NEED NEW FRIENDS!” WCTH is a much better reality. People are usually kind to one another, and band together in troubled times. I also like how things are much more clear-cut as to what’s good and what’s evil. And the gray areas (like Frank being a former con, but breaking away from that life,) are well handled. And it’s entertaining too! Every time I watch an episode, I feel better than I did before; makes me want to sigh. Kami will vouch for that.

8. Anything else you enjoy, or anything you’d like to add?
• I really love the way the characters are developed. You can see people grow and learn. They’re not immune to hardship, and it makes them better people.
• Also, I was browsing the list of episodes to find my favorite, and I came upon the one when Abigail finds out about Bill’s marriage. Arg! Dumb men! Men should not be dumb. But it counts for women too!

Of course it does, Amy! 😉 This is the first time I’ve interviewed someone I introduced to the show besides my mother, so that was fun! Okay everybody. That’s all for today. Come back and see me for the #WonderWednesday review of Pascale’s new movie Wedding of Dreams. And don’t forget to comment on and share the blog to spread the word. And I’m always looking for feedback and more #MeetYouMonday volunteers. Some things to consider. This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom!

Happy Labor Day Hearties!  How’s everyone enjoying (hopefully!) the sunshine?  I hope you have a fantastic holiday!  Well, today, we’ve got lots to do, so let’s get to it!

First of all, it’s a special day today for someone named Jack.  Baby Jack, that is!  He is 5 months today!  So here are some beautiful pictures to mark the day.

Okay, now that that is done, there is something else very special happening this week.  WELCOME TO ERIN KRAKOW WEEK!  Erin is turning 34 on Wednesday!  So in honor of her birthday, we’re going to celebrate her!  Today will be her spotlight day.  I confess I don’t know very much about Erin, and there wasn’t a whole lot of personal information out there about her.  So there won’t be a whole lot, but I hope Erin felt the birthday love this whole week!

Erin was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 5, 1984.  I found out that her middle name is Alisa.  That’s beautiful, isn’t it?!  She was raised mostly in Florida, and she now lives in California.  I’ve heard her mention siblings, but never how many.  I do know, however, that she loves to FaceTime with her dad, and he’s a big fan of her work because she catches him watching her films.

Erin’s ambition to be an actor seems pretty clear from her education.   She graduated from the Arizona School for the Arts, and she has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Julliard in New York City.  And they don’t take just anyone, as most of you know!

Her hobbies are sketchy, but I’m happy to share what I know.  I know that she is NOW a very skilled horseback rider, when she couldn’t even ride before When Calls the Heart.  She is also a very good singer, and she and Dan have talked about the idea of recording an album together.  Wouldn’t THAT be something?!  She LOVES eating watermelon…and the Canadian cookies Lori really likes just to tease her!  Erin also really loves children, and spends a lot of time with her young costars on set; playing games with them, eating lunch with them, visiting them in their trailers.  And from everything I’ve seen, they just adore her.  She always tweets a special message to them on their birthdays, and I’ve seen pictures of her visiting some of them at their homes.  She’s a gem, isn’t she?

As far as her favorite episode, that’s always difficult, especially when she’s done SO many!  But I heard her say in an interview that her favorite episode to film, (in Season 5 at least,) was the wedding.  And WHO can blame her???  That was a favorite of ours too, and SHE got to wear the dress!

Happy birthday week, Erin!  We all wish you well!  Don’t work too hard up there in the chilly North, and we hope the rest of the cast and crew spoil you a little on Wednesday.  And to you, Hearties, have a fabulous day once again!  This IS Hooked Heartie, signing off.  May your heart let your hope blossom!

Hello, hello, hellooooooo, Hearties! How is everybody doing on this fine, sunny, and HOT Monday? Did anyone have the first day of school today, or will you at some point this week? Well, good luck if you do! Before we begin, I just HAVE to put a plug in for the Hallmark Summer Nights movie Season for Love. It doesn’t have any of the WCTH cast or crew (that I saw), so I can’t review it. But please watch it when it airs again. It’s PRECIOUS! I haven’t finished watching it yet, but I really like what I see. And it takes place in TEXAS, so ya’ll can’t go wrong! 😉

Now for our lovely lady being spotlighted on this beautiful #MeetYouMonday. Her name is Belinda Rangel. She’s ALSO from Texas, so once again, you can’t go wrong! 😀 Wait until you hear about her! Take it away Belinda!

1. Where are you from? If you’re living elsewhere, where are you living now?
            • I was born in Brownsville, TX, and I’m currently living in Cleveland, TX.

2. Tell us about your family.
            • I’m single. I have a younger sister and brother. My parents have been married for 44 years. My sister got married on the same day as my parents four years ago, and now she’s waiting on baby #1 to make an entrance to the world!

3. What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? What are you studying/did you study in school?
           • I am in the Logistics industry. I expedite oilfield cargo all over the world. I actually just started a new additional job  about two weeks ago. I enjoy working my DS (direct sales) business; Damsel in Defense, where I get to equip, empower, and educate women with safety protection products.

4. How did you find/discover WCTH?
           • I was already enjoying the Hallmark Channel when I saw it promoted; movie first, of course, then the series.

5. What is your favorite episode? Season?
          • I’m not sure about my favorite episode, but the first season is one of my favorites!

6. Who is your favorite character? Star of the show?
          • I’d say, the town. It’s a character all on its own. You can see how even though there’s a spotlight on someone, the town still lives on. You see how they work together to make their lives better.

7. Why are you a Heartie? Why do you love the show?
          • I can enjoy a Sunday night without profanity, nudity, or violence. I also get to see that there are other people in the world who just want something clean, family-oriented, and family-friendly to watch.

8. Anything else you enjoy, or anything you’d like to add?
          • I’m not ready for the next season…Season 6. Maybe if I watch it again, I’ll see that nothing tragic happened in our little  town. 🙂

Thank you so much Belinda! “Damsels in Defense”? That has got to be the coolest name for a business EVER! And I love your insight of the town itself being a character; it sure does seem to come alive. I know that even the most loyal of Hearties are approaching Season 6 with a measure of trepidation, so don’t feel bad saying you’re not ready. It will definitely be a change we’ll have to get used to. But we’ll soldier on, won’t we?

Well, everybody, thanks for joining me once again. Just a few reminders: please feel free to repost, retweet, share, and talk about the blog so we can get the word out. And don’t forget about the survey so I can give you more of what YOU want to read. Have a fantastic day, and we’ll see you Wednesday. This is Hooked Heartie, signing off. May your heart let your hope blossom!

Good morning to all you bright-eyed, bushy-tailed Hearties! (cough, cough). At least we’re trying to be on a Monday morning, right? So who out there has children or teachers starting school THIS WEEK? Best of luck to you! I’m afraid to admit just how much I’m loving having my girl in all-day school, but it is SO MUCH EASIER getting daily tasks done. Absence also makes the heart grow fonder, so I get to actually miss her, and rejoice when I see her in the afternoon.

But enough about me! You came here to meet someone new, didn’t you? And that someone is Natasha Naquin. Natasha is a member of the South Texas Hearties Facebook group of which I am a part. I have yet to meet this lady in person, but I like what I hear about her. So I present to you, Natasha Naquin!

1. Where are you from? If you’re living elsewhere, where are you living now?
• I was born in Abbeville, Louisiana, raised in Erath, Louisiana, and now I live in Kaplan, Louisiana (Sounds like Louisiana is the place for her! But we’ll keep her in the Texas group. 😉 )

2. Tell us about your family.
• I have one sister and two brothers. (Hooray for even numbers! That’s how my kids are.) My parents are still alive and still married. (WOW! Congratulations on both counts!)

3. What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? What are you studying/did you study in school?
• I don’t work. My hobbies are spending time with family and friends. (Ooh, woman of mystery! I like it! Those kind of hobbies are the best to have!)

4. How did you find/discover WCTH?
• Just flipping through the channels. (Talk about luck!)

5. What is your favorite episode? Season?
• The engagement and the wedding. (No! You don’t say! 😀 Always a favorite!)

6. Who is your favorite character? Star of the show?
• Erin and Lori (Good choice! 😉 )

7. Why are you a Heartie? Why do you love the show?
• The show is down to earth, caring, and loving. (Good adjectives. Although I must say the romance has lifted me up to the clouds a time or two.)

8. Anything else you enjoy, or anything you’d like to add?
• I would love to go see the set, and meet the cast members. (Only my dearest wish!)

Thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself, Natasha. We always love knowing others like us out there who have GREAT taste in television!

Now to the poll I mentioned. With Back to School week, I didn’t review the latest Garage Sale Mystery movie: The Mask Murder. And so far, I have not seen a single WCTH star in any of the Summer Nights movies. What are the odds of THAT happening??? Especially after #JuneWeddings when there was at least one in every single film. Go figure! So my question is: which GSM movie would YOU like to see reviewed this #WonderWednesday? The Mask Murder from a week ago, or Picture a Murder from last night? Happy decision making! This is Hooked Heartie, signing off. May your heart let your hope blossom!

Which GSM movie would YOU like to see reviewed this #WonderWednesday?

  • The Mask Murder (67%, 4 Votes)
  • Picture a Murder (33%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 6
