I know this is super late. Crazy, yet typical day in the life of a mother of 4.

Moving on: Well, hello Hearties! Welcome back from Canada! And how was that amazing trip for all you lucky Hope Valley go-ers? Oh, I’m so envious! One day, I’ll go to a Hearties Family Reunion. Let’s just hope that by that time, they’re still happening. 😉 When I told my mom it was happening, she asked, “What’s that?” Oh, so sad! When I described it as “comic con for WCTH” she wasn’t very impressed. Obviously I have some schooling to do! Anyway, from the videos and pictures I saw, it looked like you all had an outstanding adventure! I especially enjoyed listening to Kavan and Pascale talk about the “temperamental” motorcycle which Kavan described as a “bicycle with a sewing machine engine”. 😀

The guy we’re focusing on this week was there too! In fact, I saw a video of him singing for a husband back home. It wasn’t as weird as it sounds; just sending a message to someone back home. 😉 Any guesses? If you guessed Jack Wagner, ding ding ding ding! If you remember, Jack’s birthday is October 3rd, but the first week of October was…well, previously booked. So it’s later, but Jack needs his own week, wouldn’t you say? I say yes!

First thing I learned is his name isn’t really Jack. His first name isn’t even John. His full given name is Peter John Wagner II. Does that throw you for a loop, because it sure did me! Let’s get to know good ole Jack. He was born in the year 1959, (which makes him 59 years old,) in Washington, Missouri. But as we all have probably guessed by now, he lives in Los Angeles, California.

Jack was married to Kristina Wagner, whom we know as Nora on WCTH. But just like Bill and Nora, Jack and Kristina are divorced. However, it’s apparently remained very amicable. They have 2 sons named Peter and Harrison. And here’s something! In 2011, Jack met a daughter he had never known. She was 23 at the time! Thank heaven for large miracles!

Jack was raised a Catholic, and went to Catholic school. Apparently he was quite the athlete; he played football and basketball. Did you know he was a musician? I didn’t until several months ago. Of course, I was born in the 1980’s, and that’s when his music was the most famous. His biggest hit was “All I Need” in 1984. Of course he’s been an actor for a long time, and been in several projects, way too many to name here. His most famous role is was Frisco Jones on General Hospital. He and Kristina were quite the steamy power couple, I hear. He also appeared as a contestant for Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars.

But here’s a little tidbit you may or may not know: he’s QUITE the golfer; very avid too. For college, he went to the University of Arizona, where he tried out for the golf team and the drama department. (That was after a year at the University of Missouri.) The drama department gave him a full scholarship, but he never forgot golfing. He is currently a leading celebrity golfer, and he’s the only non-professional to win the American Century Celebrity Golf Classic. Good going, Jack!

One little nugget of golden information that I hadn’t known beforehand is he had quite a stage career. In the late 80’s he was on national tours for both West Side Story and Grease, (he played Tony in West Side Story,) but what he describes as his “most fulfilling professional experience” is playing the title role in Jekyll and Hyde. If you’ve never seen the show, that character is one of the most taxing and complicated I’ve ever seen. And I’m told he did it very well.

I better call it a night. As always, I’ll have more for you later this week. Have a good one! This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom!

Well, I would say, “Anyone want to venture a guess?”, but it’s a little obvious, given the title. Some of you are probably jumping up and down, (yes, YOU, Sarah!), some of you are probably raising an eyebrow, and the rest of you probably wonder if I’m off my rocker; Niall not being a permanent member of the cast and all. But I do have a few reasons. First of all, Niall played a VERY prominent character on WCTH in Season 4, (Shane Cantrell). Secondly, there have sure been several speculations that Shane might be coming back as a love interest for Elizabeth. I mean, he didn’t just disappear into the Black Hole of Hope Valley; there was a reason for his being gone. And Phillip adores Elizabeth, so who knows? Third, regardless of the WCTH connection, we LOVE watching him with Erin in the Father Christmas series, and I for one am sure looking forward to chapter 3! Last of all, I have a friendship to uphold, and I don’t think the relationship would survive me ignoring one of her favorites. (Love you, dearest!)

So let’s get to know Niall a little bit better. I was able to find a little bit more information on Niall than some of the others; not as much as Lori, but luckily, he doesn’t mind sharing personal information in interviews. Niall was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and grew up on his parents’ dairy farm. I’m pretty sure he lives in Vancouver now, but don’t quote me on that. He has 2 older brothers, the oldest of whom is named Trevor. They grew up working on the farm together, then he and Trevor became 3rd generation oil riggers.

As for his current family, he has a beautiful wife named Sara. The two of them eloped to Kauai, Hawaii in July of 2016. Together they have 2 little boys, whom Niall affectionately calls his “bosses”, at least when asked if he’ll be LIVE tweeting during the premiere of a new Hallmark movie of his. Good for him, putting family first! Don’t forget the furry members of the family too! He has a German Shepherd and Huskie. In view of the season, here’s a picture from Niall’s Twitter account on Halloween when he only had one child.

The third spotlight question, if you remember, is “What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? What did you study in school?” Let me tell you, this guy has done SO MUCH! He’s basically 3 careers, and a boatload of hobbies. This is one busy man! Like I mentioned before, he worked for a long time on the dairy farm. In fact, his dad tried to bribe him away from film school by giving it to him. Yeah, didn’t happen. He attended Vancouver Film School. Unfortunately, that left him with “massive” school debt, and that’s when he started working on oil rigs.

Like Daniel Lissing, he didn’t REALLY get into acting until his mid-20’s, but Niall’s story is a bit more dramatic…okay, a LOT more dramatic. You already know he went to film school, and before that, he acted in high school. However, bills will be bills, so that’s where the rigs came in. But when he was about 25, he was in a serious accident on one of those rigs in Canada. He was almost crushed, and nearly lost his right leg. So…acting took the priority. His first big break was the Canadian series The Best Years. As luck would have it, he also got a role on the Canadian series Artic Air with none other than…drum roll please! Pascale Hutton! THAT would be fun to watch, huh?

He just filmed the Blockbuster Predator. He said in a Home and Family interview “My wife is a saint!” Apparently Predator reshoots were happening at the same time as the filming for Marrying Father Christmas, so those were some very long hours when she was basically a single mom. I bet he was super exhausted too!

As far as hobbies go, the big one started when he was 4, and it was to give him an excuse to tag along after his older brothers. That hobby is hockey; which is funny because I’ve seen him play a hockey player at least twice. Don’t think he had trouble getting into that character! In fact, if you’ve seen the Hallmark movie Frozen in Love, he plays a total bad boy hockey player. He admitted that that was totally him. He called himself “a bad boy” and “a scrapper”, admitted he has broken 3 knuckles in the right hand and his nose in various fights, and he doesn’t remember how many games he has been thrown out of. BAD BOY!

Speaking of bad boy, I’ll share one more piece of trivia I learned. Niall was driving through Oregon to get to the filming of the show Eureka, and he was going a little too fast. He ended up being arrested for speeding. Of course everything turned out alright because we’re enjoying him in so many different projects nowadays.

Well, I think that’s a very thorough introduction, especially given the lack of information I’ve had on other stars. And Niall’s birthday isn’t until Saturday, so we have lots of time to work up to it. Hope you had a great kick-off to your week, everybody! This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom!

It’s Monday, Hearties! And that means another week of Hooked Heartie’s Birthday Month. So who wants to know which birthday boy/girl is being featured this time around? Well, her birthday is tomorrow, and she has described herself on Twitter as “highly excitable” and a “feisty redhead”. Hmm…I wonder. Let’s get to know Molly Sullivan, better known in the outside world as Johannah Newmarch. I still remember watching Season 1, specifically when the ladies go into the mine. Her beautiful and starkly red hair stood out so prominently from all the gray coal dust, I couldn’t think anything but, “Wow! That woman’s hair is RED!” And now, I love the character for a lot more than being a ginger.

Once again, there wasn’t a ton of personal information to be found on the Internet about Johannah, but I did find some interviews that told me a thing or two. She does live in Vancouver, and she has a daughter currently attending college.

Johannah has been described as “principled, honest, and passionate about her craft.” And quite an extrovert. She LOVES to laugh! When she was asked if it was hard to do comedy when she’s done so much drama, she downright snickered. Her reply was: “People who know me are surprised I don’t do more comedy because that’s kind of my coping mechanism.”

We know what Johannah does for a living, but I researched some of her other projects, and I got a few of her thoughts about acting. I found out she’s been in quite the variety of roles, from a villain on a children’s show to a doctor on a horror indie flick. The more well known names are Netflix’s Project MC2 and Supernatural. For her, she likes all the differences. She’s quoted as saying that “It’s important for me to keep challenging myself as an actor.” Johannah also says that one day, she would really enjoy working with Cate Blanchett and Julianne Moore. But before all that, she got really into it at a young age. Johannah posted a certain picture on her Facebook page, one that may or may not have her dressed as Wonder Woman. And she may or may not have admitted that she thought she WAS the superhero. (Method acting VERY early!) Either way, that picture is right…here! (Photo credit: Johannah’s Facebook page.)

Priceless, isn’t it? She’s so adorable! Other than being a superhero, the one hobby I read a lot about is food. It appears her mouth takes part in most of her pastimes. She’s OBSESSED with tea; drinks it all the time. Her favorite food to cook is black beans, then she adds avocado to them. She also really likes eggs. When she has breakfast on set, she walks up to the staff and requests: “Give me a scramble, and throw in the kitchen sink.” They consider it a challenge, and go to town. It’s always different. Oh, then she’s got to have her hot sauce on top.

Our favorite redhead had several wonderful words to say about US (the Hearties) too. At the HFR3 (3rd Heartie Family Reunion), she said it was “so touching” to see Hearties willing to get up at 3 am to travel to see the cast. She also commented that she’s “never met a fan base like this,” and called us “unfailingly kind and sweet”. She must be really partial to that word, because 2 minutes later, she thanked us for the “unfailing support”

I’ll end with the best quote I found…in my humble opinion. It gives me quite the boost for my own endeavors. “Storytelling is so important…They are not fluff, they are just as important as math, language, and science. They are humanity’s beating heart.”

And on that note, I’ll see you on Wednesday for the Johannah Newmarch edition of #WonderWednesday. This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom! (And Johannah’s words have certainly done that for me!)

Hello, hello! Welcome to October! And welcome to a very PACKED month! October is VERY busy! Why? All the cast birthdays that are inside it! So I welcome you to what I have officially dubbed “The Birthday Month”. Four full weeks will be dedicated to four different cast members, then we’ll do something fun for the week of Halloween. In the spirit of the holiday, I’m going to remain mysterious on everything happening outside of the week we’re in. 😉

So…anyone want to venture a guess as to who is first? I’ll give you a clue: he looks really good in red serge, and his character name rhymes with sack. 😀 Yes, it is Daniel Lissing to whom I am referring. His birthday is this week, on the 4th. I know he’s not technically part of the cast anymore, but he’ll always be our Jack. And besides, I didn’t have a blog last October, so I didn’t get the opportunity to present you with “Daniel Lissing Week”. Let’s get to know a bit about him, shall we?

For starters, I found out that he actually prefers being called Dan. We hear castmates call him that in interviews and such, but I didn’t know that he preferred it. It’s amazing what you learn when you listen to a WHOLE BUNCH of interviews, trying to glean information. 😀

So, where is this guy from? If we don’t know that, we are NOT true fans! He is from Australia, Sydney to be exact. That was one thing that really attracted me to the series, was how pure his North American accent sounded; not a hint of an Aussie anywhere in that voice. When I looked him up, and saw “Australia”, I thought no way! Then I heard my first interview, and sure enough! He has also lived in 2 other places I’m aware of: Hawaii for 9 months, when he played Navy SEAL James King in Last Resort; and now he lives in Los Angeles.

His family: well, this was sketchy. I only got bits and pieces from all the interviews, and the information I found online. I know he has a sister who is married, and has a daughter named Charlie Rose; someone Dan absolutely adores! The Christmas and New Year after she was born, Dan actually surprised her. He had told his family (except for his dad,) that he couldn’t come home. Then when she gets off the plane from visiting their mother, there’s Dan waiting for her at the airport! She was so surprised! She started crying, and so did he! It was the sweetest scene I’d ever seen!

I also know his parents are divorced, and both have remarried. His father and stepmother actually had a short walk-on role in WCTH. Most of you probably know the story of how he lost his grandfather to whom he was VERY close. If you don’t know, he got the call from his mother right before the camera rolled on the wedding vows. But he bravely went through it, and used the emotion to deliver a very powerful scene! Some new things I found out during my research for today is he has a cousin named Chris, and a grandmother from Holland. She is actually Jewish, and lived through WWII. Apparently, she has lectured all over the world about racism and intolerance, and Dan considers her one of his heroes. That is the extent of my knowledge, so if anyone knows more, please do enlighten me!

As far as profession and hobbies, well, we know one part for sure! Abut here’s something you may not know: he didn’t start seriously acting until about age 25-26 when he got a role in a short film. He had been in commercials, but didn’t hone in on acting as a career until then.

I honestly don’t know if and where he attended college, but boy! Do I know his hobbies! He’s very public about them on social media. The man loves his music! He plays guitar, he sings, and I’ve seen photographic evidence of him attending several concerts. Then the travel. He’s been EVERYWHERE, from Iceland to Disneyworld! And he took his mom and stepdad to meet Mickey Mouse as well! Wasn’t that sweet?

His reasoning on taking the role of Jack in the first place is what he describes as the fulfillment to a childhood dream. He talks about watching American TV shows (why he can do the act so well), and running around the house pretending his cricket bat was a horse. But he never rode a real horse until after he won the role of Jack. He said he had about eight 45-minute lessons before he felt comfortable with the basics, and he felt he was good after a month. But he “loves it now!” It’s become another hobby.

One more tidbit I found shows how he gives back. He went overseas and performed music for Australian troops. For that, he was recognized by the Australian Defense Force for peacekeeping efforts.

Well, that about wraps up #MeetYouMonday for Daniel Lissing. Come back on Wednesday for #WonderWednesday…it might surprise you. This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom!

Hello, Hearties! How was the weekend? Did you tune in to watch the very first Hallmark Fall Harvest movie “Truly, Madly, Sweetly” on Saturday? I missed it on Saturday because my husband and I went to San Antonio. But I watched it today. It has the man who plays Mr. Jenkins the banker in it, so I could review it on Wednesday. What’s your vote? Should I do that one, or is there a different one you’d rather see?

While I’m talking about new movies, let me put in a plug for Little Women. It’s a modern remake of the classic, and it opens this Friday. If you see that it’s showing at a theater near you, you MUST go see it! A childhood friend of mine whom I’ve known all my life is a producer, and his wife is the director. My sister-in-law also has a small part as a doctor in the film too. Just look for the beautiful Asian woman. It promises to be the exact kind of clean media we all crave!  Oh, and if you’re a fan of Back to the Future, you might want to see if you can spot…oh, I don’t know… Lea Thompson? 😉

Well, I promised you quite a treat today, didn’t I? And have I got one! Only the 2nd man to ever consent to an interview! And this one isn’t related to me, so he has no family obligation. That must mean he REALLY DID want to be interviewed! This male Heartie is Ryan Kyle, a friend from church. I’m good friends with his wife. He’s a really great guy; he must be to be a fan of this show! An awesome bit of trivia about Ryan: I told him and his wife that “the guy who plays Hickam tweeted ‘happy birthday’ to me. His wife couldn’t quite place him, but Ryan instantly said, “Oh yeah, him!” 😀 So here he is: Mr. Ryan Kyle.

1. Where are you from? If you’re living elsewhere, where are you living now?
I currently live near Austin, TX in a city named Pflugerville. I grew up in Phoenix, AZ and all over Colorado. I basically have spent one third of my life in each state.

2. Tell us about your family.
Well my family is AWESOME! No really, they are. My amazing and beautiful wife, Liz, spent a large part of her life in the medical world as a nurse. Most recently as an ER (Emergency Room) nurse. However, when we added 3 little munchkins to our family she chose to be a stay-at-home mom. She is an awesome mother to a 3.5 year old boy named Rhett and twin girls that just turned 2, Brook and Daisy. And we can’t forget our little wiener dog named Leo who is 12. We love having fun and making people laugh and smile! (They certainly do that!)

3. What do you do for a living? What are your hobbies? What are you studying/did you study in school?
I am currently an account manager at Dell, a part time realtor, and a part time financial/life coach. If you are wondering how I do all of that, and help my wife with three kids under 4, the answer would be: I don’t know…. Did I mention that my wife is amazing 🙂

Needless to say, I have made entrepreneurship into a hobby. However, I do love fixing just about anything, and I love competing. I love playing card games, board games, volleyball, and just about any other sport.

As far as school….well I didn’t like school much. I didn’t do college. I am more of a hands on kid of guy; so I started working at 15 years old, and never stopped.

4. How did you find/discover WCTH?
We don’t watch much TV, so when we do, we want to make sure it is good and worth watching. My wife actually found the show, which I think was a recommendation from Kami. (Will suggested he give it a try too, if you can believe that!) I then sat down one night to check it out, and instantly fell in love with the show. It’s just too hard to find good clean entertainment with good story lines, romance, strong classy men, (of course he likes that!), and funny plots.

5. What is your favorite episode? Season?
Oh geez…This is just wrong to ask such a thing. Really, to pick one over the others? How could I? Ok…Ok… The first season is certainly one of my favorites because you meet so many characters there first, but the second season is where Lee Coulter is introduced, and the hilarious banter between him and Rosemary begins.

It is impossible to pick a favorite episode. I will say that I really enjoyed the Christmas special….I mean it was Christmas and who doesn’t love that? Plus, I watched it with really cool people, so it was that much more fun! (Aww…shucks! Thanks!)

6. Who is your favorite character? Star of the show?
Lee Coulter and Abigail Stanton. I like Lee because he is so patient and caring. He never seems to be out to get anyone, and is always finding creative ways to make Rosemary happy. He is a classy guy, and that is rare to find these days. Abigail is similar. She is a strong woman who stands up for herself and others. She cares deeply about the people in the town, and serves the town selflessly.

7. Why are you a Heartie? Why do you love the show?
This show stands out among a sea of entertainment that seems focused on showing hate, violence, and other destructive tendencies instead of emphasizing the good in people like When Calls the Heart does. I like feeling good after a show. I like feeling like being a better man. I like feeling romantic. I like feeling alive…and When Calls the Heart makes me feel alive. It makes me laugh, cry, feel romance and love, and strengthens my pursuit of good character traits.

8. Anything else you enjoy, or anything you’d like to add?
I am fortunate to be chosen to be interviewed. There are so many great people out there watching the show! For you ladies out there: your husbands may pretend they don’t like the show, but deep down…they do. Just make it easy for them to sit down and pretend not to watch it with you. It’s only a matter of time before they become full fledged Hearties…(Can I quote you on that in Will’s case? That’s the way it is with my father-in-law, but hasn’t work on the hubby yet.)

*The photo of Liz and me is right after we got engaged in 2013. The other is our 3 little kiddo’s having a little snack 🙂

Thanks, Ryan! You’ve given hope to us all! It’s so refreshing to hear about a man who loves good and wholesome entertainment. You’re the best! Well, everyone else, hope you had a great start to your week. This is Hooked Heartie, signing off! May your heart let your hope blossom…that hope Ryan gave us!
